CAB Strategic Assessment Lite
Planning a CAB meeting isn't the same as building a CAB program.
Most of what makes an advisory board work is decided before the first meeting: why it exists, who owns it, who sits on it, and what happens to member input. In one to two weeks, we'll show you where your program stands and what to do next, in time for your 2027 plan.

Get startedThe meeting is the easy part.
Most teams start with a venue, a date and an agenda. The decisions that actually make a board work come earlier, and most of the work happens between meetings. When a board stalls, it usually comes back to how it was set up.
If you're starting one, ask yourself:
- Who owns the board, and do they have real time for it?
- Will leadership show up, and stay once the questions get hard?
- Are you choosing members for candor, or because they're your happiest accounts?
If you're running one, ask yourself:
- Does the person who owns the board actually have time for it?
- Can members point to something that changed because of their input?
- Are the people on your roster still engaged, and is leadership still showing up?
- Does anyone talk to members between meetings?
If any of these sound familiar, that's what the assessment is for.
Three steps, about 90 minutes of your time.
- 1
Intake call (15 minutes).
You book a time right after checkout. We learn your goals, your context and who will take the survey.
- 2
Survey (about 15 minutes).
One person completes it, usually whoever owns the CAB or will own it.
- 3
Readout, Q&A and report (60 minutes).
A Boardstream CAB specialist walks you through the findings and your priorities for 2027, then opens it up for Q&A. Bring all your questions. The written report follows.
What to expect
- Timing: one to two weeks from purchase to readout, depending on when you book calls.
- Who should join the readout: the survey respondent and, ideally, your executive sponsor.
- What to have ready: no documents needed. Just your honest take on where things stand.
- What it isn't: a sales pitch. The readout is about your board.
A report you can take into planning.
Both tracks end with a written report built for your leadership team. You get a score, a clear view of what's working and what isn't, and a short list of what to do next, in order. The readout also includes a live Q&A with a Boardstream CAB specialist, so you can bring any CAB question you're stuck on, even if the survey didn't cover it.
| Item | New CAB | Existing CAB |
|---|---|---|
| Score | Readiness, out of 100, across four areas | Program health, out of 100, across four weighted pillars |
| Findings | Strengths and gaps to close before launch | Top strengths and areas for improvement |
| Next steps | Your 2027 priorities and a launch checklist | Action plan for 30 days, 90 days and 6 to 12 months |

Questions
Which track is right for us?
If you don't have a CAB yet, or you're relaunching from scratch, choose New CAB. If you have a board that has met at least once, choose Existing CAB. Not sure? Email us and we'll point you to the right one.
How long does it take?
One to two weeks from purchase to readout. The pace mostly depends on when you book the intake and the readout.
How much of our time does it need?
About 90 minutes: a 15-minute intake, a 15-minute survey and a 60-minute readout.
Who should take the survey?
One person, usually whoever owns the CAB or will own it. For the readout, we recommend bringing your executive sponsor too.
Is this a sales call in disguise?
No. The readout covers your board and what we found. If you want to talk about working together, we'll do that separately.
How is Lite different from the full Strategic Assessment?
Lite is a focused outside read, based on an intake call and one survey. The full Strategic Assessment goes further, with in-depth interviews across your stakeholders and an annual strategy recommendation.
What if we decide to work with Boardstream afterward?
Your $1,995 is credited toward an annual engagement. We'll walk through the details at your readout.
Can we pay by invoice?
Yes. Card checkout is fastest, but email us if you need an invoice or PO. We'll schedule your intake once payment clears.
Can we get a refund?
The assessment is non-refundable once purchased. Please complete it within 60 days of purchase.
Is our information kept confidential?
Yes. Your survey responses are used only to prepare your report.
